S2 EP11: Love & money, financial values, and sexual tension with Sam Pills

S2 EP11: Love & money, financial values, and sexual tension with Sam Pills

In this episode, I sit down with Sam to discuss the power dynamics that come with monetary conversations in relationships. We touch on the intersection between love & money, how heterosexual relationships are shifting in terms of who the 'breadwinner' is in the household, and what we actual value in a relationship. We also talk about whether or not someone's career matters as much as their passions, paying on a first date, and the importance of making time for your independence throughout a relationship to cultivate sexual tension.

Sam coaches on how to change our approaches to dating so that it leads to more self-worth. She's seen how changing our actions can help us overcome struggles around confidence, doubt and the stories that are holding us back from a life full of connection (not to mention love, money, purpose, ease and so much more). You can find her on Instagram @sampills.

S2 EP10: 82 first dates, being present, communication styles with Amy Palatnick

S2 EP10: 82 first dates, being present, communication styles with Amy Palatnick

In this episode, I sit down with Amy to have one of the most beautiful conversations on the podcast. I hear tons of growth in myself in this episode as much of the advice I mention, I have recently taken. We discuss open communication and getting to know one's different communication styles. To being present on dates and reflecting after the first date rather than jumping to the conclusion there will be a second, or more importantly, do you want there to be?

Amy discovered the secret to a fulfilled life when Joseph Campbell taught her to Follow My Bliss. So instead of going to medical school, she became a potter. She moved to the Pacific Northwest where she had a thriving pottery career (She's been on a pottery hiatus, but plan to go back to it soon!). Later, she became a Nia instructor, and more recently followed her heart to become a Processwork therapist and Realization Process meditation teacher. Her main goal in life is to help others find more self-love and follow their big and small dreams.

Her second book, Dating Empowered, is coming soon! You'll get sneak peeks and special content when you join her email list!

S2 EP9: Bisexuality, non-monogamy, and coming out with Pran

S2 EP9: Bisexuality, non-monogamy, and coming out with Pran

In this episode, I sit down with Pran to have a beautifully vulnerable conversation about the realities of coming out to your family and navigating your sexuality through a culture that is not accepting of you. He opens up about his bisexuality, non-monogamy, and how he explores difficult conversations with dating partners early on to reach an intimate level.

Pran is a writer and psychotherapist in training based out of London. He runs a garage band-esque creative hub called The Write-Up Project where he gets to work with other writers and also hosts a podcast called Love & citizenship where he shares vulnerable conversations about the journey of the human experience with a new guest each episode. He's a massive nerd, spends far too much time listening to music, and is a proud dog dad to a 10y/o Labrador. You can check out his work @thewriteupproject or @pdarshan.

S2 EP8: Unmatching, prompts, needs vs. needy with Shooters Gotta Shoot

S2 EP8: Unmatching, prompts, needs vs. needy with Shooters Gotta Shoot

In this episode, I sit down with Erica Spera and Molly DeMellier, co-hosts of the The Shooters Gotta Shoot podcast to discuss all things dating. We touch on why someone who would unmatch on a dating app, dating app prompts, and are you needy or is asking for your needs just secure?

Professional comedian Erica Spera and businesswoman Molly DeMellier are well-educated, driven, former NCAA athletes who know how to get what they want — except when it comes to men. With humor and candor, they explore the complicated, frustrating and bizarre realities of dating as headstrong, twenty-something women in New York City. Never the wallflowers, Erica and Molly go against the grain and take the initiative to ask men out —even if it means sliding into DMs with a bold intro or sending a drink to a stranger across the bar. But they also bring a candid and honest point of view to the experience — with Erica’s recent herpes diagnosis adding another layer onto navigating sexual encounters, dates, loneliness, family and societal pressures, and more.

S2 EP7: Audio dating, visual emphasis, dating terms then & now with Taly founder of Blink Dating

S2 EP7: Audio dating, visual emphasis, dating terms then & now with Taly founder of Blink Dating

In this episode, I sit down with Taly to discuss the benefits of an audio-only dating app. Blink Date is one of a kind, and the origin story is a must listen. What happens when we take the visual emphasis away from the dating apps? We judge less and we connect more. We also discuss some fun dating terms: what they mean now vs. what they meant then.

Taly Matiteyahu is the cofounder and CEO of Blink Date, a voice-only dating app inspired by a revelatory experience at a blackout restaurant. Making connections with strangers based on conversation alone, free of looks-driven assumptions, sparked the thought: would people date a wider variety of people if they were able to make an emotional connection before swiping left?

Taly previously worked as a lawyer at a NYC law firm, in legal operations at Netflix and Datadog, and as a product manager at Evisort. Taly earned her Bachelor's degree from New York University in 2011 and her Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School in 2015. You can find Blink Date on Instagram here or connect with Taly on LinkedIn.
